On Wednesday, UIndy College Democrats protested against the proposed Constitutional Amendment to ban same-sex marriage in Indiana. We had nearly 20 members attend, and were joined by members of UIndy Pride, Indiana Equality, and other College Democrats chapters. Although the Senate Judiciary Committee passed the legislation with a vote of 6-4 (with one abstention), we feel that the protest was a success. We proved that we can rally our base even during this tough election year and our members were very excited about getting out and standing up for our rights. We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone that attended and showed support for equality in the state of Indiana.
In other news, we will be having our next meeting this Monday, January 25th, at 9 PM in Schwitzer 012. We will be discussing our upcoming events and speakers and begin planning one of our big events of the year! We hope to see you there!
